Here’s another example of a single-page website with an estimated annual revenue of $1.34 million — and all it does is help users calculate percentages.
Out of the 7 billion people in the world, there are likely hundreds of millions who aren’t comfortable calculating percentages on their own.
Among them, when the need arises, around 2.24 million people per month turn to Google and search for a percentage calculator tool, as shown in the second chart.
Surprising, right?
You probably wouldn’t expect that so many people prefer to search on Google rather than use a calculator to figure out a simple percentage.
One such tool is percentagecalculator.net, a site built for this very need.
The domain was registered back in 2007, and it now receives over 2.6 million monthly visits.
As shown in Figure 1, the website offers three core functions:
-
Calculate what X% of a number equals.
-
Calculate what percentage one number is of another.
-
Calculate the percentage increase or decrease between two numbers.
Similar to the sleep calculator tool we discussed earlier — the one with 1.78 million monthly visits and an estimated $67,000 annual revenue, built just to solve a simple need — this site is also a single-page tool.
Its traffic is primarily concentrated in wealthy countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada together account for 57.28% of its total visits.
Based on an estimated $6 CPM (cost per thousand impressions), with 2.6 million monthly visits (i.e., 2,600 thousand-impression units), the site could be earning around $15,600 per month, or $187,200 per year, which is approximately 1.34 million RMB.
